By Hamidah Atan and V. Shankar Ganesh

PUTRAJAYA: Former Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) are expected to file a police report over a letter implicating him and one of the commission's officers in relation to the Teoh Beng Hock case.

The "mysterious letter", which had found its way into a blog, is said to be the one produced in court during an inquest into Teoh Beng Hock's death on Wednesday.

The letter contained explicit details and allegations against Dr Khir and a senior MACC officer based in Selangor.

Speaking from Mecca where he is performing the umrah, Dr Khir claimed he doesn't know the officer mentioned in the letter.

"I have done nothing wrong. All this is being done to tarnish my name," he said, adding that his assistant would lodge a police report on the matter.

"I hope the police will investigate all these claims and get to the root of it. I have done nothing wrong and I want the culprits to be brought to book."

Dr Khir denied plans to topple the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government. All he wanted to do was to point out any mistakes made by them.

A senior MACC officer described the letter as the latest attempt by certain quarters to ruin the image of the commission and its officers.

"The officer implicated is an excellent person with good service track record. We want the police to investigate how the contents of the letter made it to the blog."

The officer named in the letter was one of the recipients of the MACC's excellent service awards.yesterday.

"We want those responsible to be hauled up. To us, this is a poison-pen letter by certain quarters to create distrust and hatred towards MACC which is going all out in its probe on corrupt practices."

The officer implicated in the letter could not be reached for comments. It is understood that his mobile phone was seized by the police in their investigations into Teoh's death. - NST.
