Molotov cocktails hurled at commission’s vehicle

KLANG: A four-wheel drive vehicle belonging to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) branch here was damaged in a Molotov cocktail attack at the old district land office off Jalan Kota here.

Six Molotov cocktails were used on the gold coloured Nissan XTrail which was parked at the premises. MACC officers only found out about the attack when they reported to work at 7.45am yesterday.

Klang Police Chief ACP Mohamad Mat Yusop said police believe the incident happened between 2am and 3am, but there were no witnesses.

He said that the attack was the first of its kind at the office and believed that it could be linked to the high-profile case in recent weeks.

At the scene, six strips of red cloth were left on the fence close to the parking area.

MACC moved into the office about two months ago and its 12 officers occupy several office lots on the second floor of the building.

In Putrajaya, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said the attack was not only a “cowardly act” but also the typical work of members of underground groups. - The Star.
